Gardener’s Log Cabin

At the edge of the wood, where the garden meets the forest.

Gardener’s Cabin sits where the cultivated meets the wild — a cottage garden of wildflowers, lupines, and gravel paths giving way to ten wooded acres behind. The covered porch looks out over both, and it is where most mornings end up. It’s also home to the cabin’s signature: a cast iron clawfoot soaking tub styled with sheer curtains and a wood side table — available seasonally, and a genuinely one-of-a-kind Vermont experience.

Inside, the aesthetic is light, botanical, and carefully considered. Sheer white curtains, a sage sectional with botanical throw pillows, open wooden shelving with books and ceramics. The main bedroom has a queen dressed in crisp white linens; above, a loft under exposed pine beams sleeps two more on twin beds — a sheepskin rug, a vintage trunk, framed wildlife prints. Cozy for friends or older kids looking for their own perch.

Out front, a large fire pit is carved into the hillside with round log seating. In winter, head into the back woods. In summer, the cottage garden is extraordinary.

Getting there

Duxbury, Vermont

Wychwood is in Duxbury, in the middle of Vermont’s best skiing — Mad River Glen is 20 minutes, Sugarbush 22, and Stowe 39.

The cabins are reached by a town-maintained dirt road followed by a short shared private road maintained collectively by neighbors — easy to navigate in summer and good conditions. In winter (December through March), expect snowpack and occasional icy patches; we strongly recommend AWD or 4WD with snow tires or quality all-season tires. During Vermont’s mud season (late March through early May), Duxbury’s dirt roads can become soft and rutted, and AWD is again helpful. Parking at each cabin accommodates two cars, though winter snowpack can make it tight for two. Full arrival details come in your pre-arrival message after booking.
